rock star

one of my students is a rock star. the juniors just finished writing their research papers, which took the form of an "action pack" for most of them. they had to research a world issue and write a paper advocating for people affected by that world issue. so, one of my kids wrote about sexual abuse (because she had been a victim of sexual abuse as a child). as part of the pack, she wrote a letter to a national organization telling them that she was interested in being a part of this movement to end sexual abuse. they got her note and called her to ask if she would let them publish her story!!!! how freaking cool is that???
