the simple life
last week, i had $4 (and change) to my name. that money had to pay for me to drive between g-vegas and i-town, so it's not like i could spread the wealth around. my checking account was overdrawn, and the money from my upcoming paycheck was already spent. i had moved from my house to my friend's house, 30 miles away. the man i'm with was irritated because i was moving in with the fuck buddy's friend (who is my friend's boyfriend) for the next few weeks. all of my worldly goods were packed away, ready to make the "real move" at the end of july. in addition, i had scheduled an interview near my hometown, 600 miles away from my current location, and my car held a load of moving boxes to drop off at my parents' house. in short, my life - which normally falls into the category of "organized chaos" - was slipping into the "pure chaos" category.
on wednesday, my principal surprised us with our summer school checks, and my life became much more simple. no more chaos. no more worrying about whether or not i would have enough food to make it to my next payday. it's funny how money simplifies things.
