cultural icons

i'll be teaching mass media to a bunch of 18 year olds in the fall. i'm curious as to how this is going to go, since my first set of ideas fall into the "possibly inappropriate for high-school discussion" category... for example,

1. censorship in south park
2. symbolism in madonna videos
3. politics in advertising
4. parental warnings in music
5. commentary in comic strips

i've already had to change my syllabus, because i made the mistake of putting this symbol of corporate america on it... you'll notice the playboy bunny in the lower left-hand corner. oops. damn the luck...
