Dear Rat-Bastard Teacher who Likes to Talk Smack about Me to My Students,

i don't like you. i think that you foster an aggressively hostile environment in the school, and i don't think that you respect your students. i first knew this when you joked with me about putting the children in dark rooms to turn them white (like goldfish). i think that you're a redneck who would be better off in a different profession - like business or data entry or garbage collection. but i usually keep my opinions to myself at school because i don't want to completely undermine your classroom effectiveness.

having said that, i don't appreciate you talking about me to the children or in faculty meetings. you're right when you say that i do value feeding the children's minds over disciplining them. "according to ms. faith, hats and shirt-tails aren't as important as teaching your minds!" you ranted. damn skippy. but what you missed in your rant was that my students DO have discipline. the reason that they like me and don't like you is NOT that i let them run wild and you enforce rules (because i do that too), but i actually listen to them and respect them for who they are. THAT is why they cheer when i walk across the gym floor.

you think that a classroom must be silent in order for it to be productive, that students must be meek to be respectful. while i'm sure that makes teaching easier for you, i think that's unfortunate. most of my students thrive when my classroom is active - that's when they learn the most. and if you're not taking the time to get to know these fascinating people while you have access to them, you're missing out on the best part of teaching.

yours for a better high school,
ms. high and mighty yankee bitch
