the children are smart.

i gave a quiz today in english 4, and, apparently, it was more difficult than the students expected. one of the girls (new to my class) in 2nd period said, "you must have fought with your husband before you made this test up." when i told her that i wasn't married, she said, "well, you fought with somebody." (tru dat)

i was relating her comment to one of my cooler students in 4th period before they took their test, and he laughed and said, "you're not married!" "i know!" i laughed back. as i turned to put the test up, he added, "but i KNOW you got an old man." hmmm. i wish i knew that.

in talking to the boy tonight, he tried to get me to say that i was his girl. i laughed at him, too.
