funny twist on the whole "you need a foreign language" debate.
after our whole conversation about his future and school and all that, coffee made the decision to take a foreign language while he was still in high school. so, he argued with the counselors until they changed his schedule. he picked it up the other day, but i noticed that he walked out before finalizing the changes, which was weird. figured he probably didn't like the changes they'd made. my assumption was confirmed when he made his way into my room today to have a one-on-one about the whole foreign language thing. they took him out of all of his classes, gave him the other english teacher, and generally made the next year look like hell. so, he pretended that he'd never gotten the schedule and went back to the old one... as a teacher, all i can do is recommend that he take a foreign language over the summer at the community college. as a teacher who lets her students get too close sometimes, i was relieved that he stuck around in my class.
yes, i know, i have no life.
