my gift to you...

if i could give a gift to you, dear reader, i would give you a rob. somebody to take late-night trips to taco bell with, somebody to drive around and talk about boys and girls with, somebody to sing "signs" with in the middle of the grocery store parking lot... somebody who loves you unconditionally, for all of the silliness that you have together, for playing victim to his dinosaur attacks, even as you know that, at 26 years old, you're probably old enough to stop playing "dinosaur victim"... somebody to take care of your puppy when you're at school in mississippi, somebody to make you smile when boys break your heart... somebody to give you hugs and call you "the best teacher ever" when your students break your heart.. and somebody to remind you that family is at the core of everything that is possible, even when you're far away. good brothers are hard to come by. i wish you the same kind of happiness that having mine as part of my life has brought me. kind of wordy, but a good sentiment, nonetheless.

speaking of rob and "signs"... my friend's band will be opening for tesla on august 9th on the riverfront. i highly recommend attending, should you be in peoria. alas, i will be back in mississippi, having already met my students and started school. who the hell starts school during the first week of august? what kind of crappy system is that? anyway, back to the point. go see MFB. skip out on tesla for all i care. no, don't. it should be a fun concert. take pictures. send them to me. :)
